New Moon pales in comparison to Twilight, according to the critics from US Magazine.
Chicago Sun-Times' Roger Ebert says "the characters in this movie should be arrested for loitering with intent to moan. Never have teenagers been in greater need of a jump-start. Granted some of them are more than 100 years old, but still: their charisma is by Madame Tussaud."
Ty Burr of The Boston Globe remarks: "Sorry, girls: The thrill is gone." He says that "where the first film’s director, Catherine Hardwicke, plugged into [author Stephenie] Meyer’s vision of supernatural teenage lust with abandon, Chris Weitz is stuck with a sequel that’s a morning-after mope-fest."
Burr also says that the film favors werewolf Jacob (Taylor Lautner) than vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson).
"When he's onscreen, Pattinson’s Edward is all emo posturing under a trembling bouffant - the actor suddenly seems to be embarrassed to be here," says Burr. "Lautner's performance, by contrast, has the warmth of an actual human."
But Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Times says Lautner and Kristen Stewart (who plays Bella) have no heat: "The connection between these two is so self-evidently non-romantic that it turns out not to be much of a diversion."
USA Today's Claudia Puig agrees, saying the the Bella-Edward romance is a bore and that "the pace picks up" once Jacob and his pals turn into werewolves. She gave the film 2.5 out of 4 stars.
Variety writes that ladies hoping to gaze at Pattinson the big screen " may be disappointed by Pattinson's reduced presence" in the sequel, "as his Edward appears predominantly in mumbling visions until a cliffhanger that brazenly sets up the next episode."
Despite some harsh reviews, the film is still expected to earn more than $85 million during its first weekend (it has run up the biggest advance sales of any film in history). It opens in 4,024 locations, beginning with 3,500 performances at 12:01 a.m. Friday.

Watch Taylor Swift on SNL Monologue
11:14 PM
Filed Under: Entertainment News |0 commentsEach of the famous men in Taylor Swift’s life earned name drops in her inaugural Saturday Night Live monologue over the weekend. The country singer sang about ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas, her rumored boyfriend Taylor Lautner, and the man who ambushed her at the MTV Video Music Awards in August, rapper Kanye West, as she opened the long-running sketch comedy series on Saturday night.
“If you’re wondering if I might be dating the werewolf from ‘Twilight’ I’m not going to comment on that in my monologue,” Swift sang, before mouthing “Hi Taylor,” and blowing Lautner, 17, a kiss.
“You might be expecting me to say something bad about Kanye [West]. But there’s nothing more to say because everything’s okay…I’ve got security lining the stage,” the songstress teased.
And poor Joe Jonas really got an earful: “You might think I’d bring up Joe, that guy who broke up with me on the phone, but I’m not gonna mention him in my monologue,” Taylor continued. “Joe, I’m doing real well—tonight I’m hosting SNL!”

Don't be confused and fooled - Miley Cyrus is not a rapper fan. Miley in an interview by the MTV.com, the Teen Queen claims that despite referencing Jay-Z in the first verse of her hit single “Party In The USA,” she’s never actually heard a song by the Grammy-winning rapper, whose career spans more than decade.
“I’ve never heard a Jay-Z song. I don’t listen to pop music,” Miley remarked. “['Party in the U.S.A.'] is not even my style of music. I’m really blessed for it to have done as well as it has. Totally blessed. God has definitely put me in an amazing position with amazing people.”
She added, “Honestly, I picked that song because I needed something to go with my clothing line. I didn’t write it [and] I didn’t expect it to be popular, originally. It was just something that I wanted to do and I needed some songs and it turned out for the best….”

Nicole Kidman is still stunning at 42! She still looks young, sexy and beautiful as she's the British GQ December cover.
The 42-year-old actress wore a black bodysuit, black thigh-high boots and one sheer glove. She told the men’s magazine about her marriage with country singer Keith Urban and described it as ‘raw’ and ‘dangerous’.
‘I’ve explored obsession. I’ve explored loss and love in terms of being in a grief-stricken place, I’ve explored strange sexual fetish stuff, I’ve explored the mundane aspect of marriage, and monogamy,’ Kidman said.
‘You work on it,’ she went on of marriage. ‘It’s a very extraordinary, adventurous place to be: incredibly raw, incredibly dangerous and you’re very much out at sea. You’re exposed. You could drown.’
‘When you commit to someone like that, you live and die together by that decision.’
When asked about her first marriage to Tom Cruise, the actress never commented about the reason behind their split.
‘I want to honour that marriage for what it was, and there is nothing I would go into about that. I have never discussed the intricacies of it and I never will,’ she said.
